The Drakemoras Species Concept Sketches 1

These are three concept sketches of the various stages of like that my behemoths, aka kaiju, called Drakemoras goes through. This is a idea I have thought about beforehand, but shed more light on the process. Anyway, let's begin.

First, to note, I decided to dropped the feathered gills, as I think it made the designs a bit cluttered. I might returned the feathered look to the antennae, but I am still debating on that fact. Also, I'm not happy with the tail, and I might go with something different (something like a newts' tail), nor am I happy with the fully armored body.

With that said, the Drakemoras is a amphibian based behemoth that is a natural enemy to Monsturra's species, since both are aquatic and share elemental attacks that counter each other (Monsturra has flame breath, while the Drakemoras can release a freezing mist from their maws). The monster goes through three stages:

Alpha: Fully aquatic, but can move on land in a manner similar to mudskippers, breaths through skin into undeveloped lungs, has undeveloped legs under rear fins, longest body length.

Beta: More developed hind legs, is more terrestrial while still being aquatic, moves in a lizard-like gait, still breathes through skin, but lungs are more developed, tail starts to shorten, and the tail fin becomes reduced.


Omega: Fully developed legs, can walk fully upright on land, primarily a quadruped, but is able to function as a biped, fully terrestrial (though it can still swim), Fully developed lungs (so it can breath through it's mouth and skin), shorten tail with nonexistent tail fin.

So, it's not a bad concept, but I'm not fully digging the designs. I might go with something like I mentioned above.
